Enough performance for an office tower

The Local Control Network achieves a very high transmission rate, even using conventional cabling. When connecting a high number of modules, the bus is split into segments, so communication gets reduced to those areas which exchange data most often. In the highest level, 1,000 to 10,000 telegrams, in the lowest level up to 100 telegrams are sent and received. With its enormous transmission rate LCN is in the vanguard of all installation busses.

LCN is a safe system

As the only system LCN uses a four-level receipt and report method. Not only commands are sent to modules, but also detailed acknowledgement and status reports are returned. So it can be tracked that a command was received by a module, that it executed it and what the resulting state is. This allows a complete monitoring of all states and actions, even in very large buildings. Additionally, operating messages help the elctrician to maintain the system fast and inexpensively.

LCN is highly scalable

An installation in a residential home may consist of only a few modules, combines with some sensors and keypads. Or it can have up to 30,000 modules in complex high-rise buildings with more tahn 500,000 data points. With fibre optics the LCN bus can be extended to up to 30 kilometers. Besides thousends of residential buildings the Maintower in Frankfurt/Main, one of the largest buildings in Germany, was realized with LCN.

LCN backups itself

LCN is the only automation system that can be read back completely. The complete configuration including names and comments is saved in the LCN installation. If the source files for parametrization and documentation of an LCN installation get lost, all data can be retrieved from the installation. This safety is offered by no other building automation.

Unrivalled functionality

As LCN modules are independent and intelligent, have their own processor and memory, they combine sensor and actor functions in a single module. Up to three interfaces per module allow connection of sensors, additional actors like relays and shutter controls, transponders or wetaher stations. Or they connect to user interfaces like push buttons and glass keypads with LC displays. This does not only save installations efforts, but also costs.

LCN is not an isolated solution

LCN is an open system and integrates into existing infrastructures. As an open bus LCN provides several interfaces and coupling to other protocols like  BACnet®, Modbus®, OPC, BMA Bosch, IOS, IP-Symcom® or EnOcean®.
